Since 2018, ComedySportz Maine has entertained thousands of loyal fans, performed hundreds of matches, and taught improv to over a hundred students. Now, they’re going on tour!
After leaving their downtown home theater in Early January, The Fresnel Theater and ComedySportz Maine are currently working with local theaters to showcase their brand of quick-witted, fast-paced, competitive, and family-friendly improv comedy to the whole state of Maine, and they are excited to announce their first stop.
Friday, January 31st, and Saturday, February 1st, at 7:00 pm, Maine’s homegrown competitive improv team will turn Footlights Theater in Falmouth (190 US-1, Falmouth, ME 04105) into the CSz Arena. Not only does this theater have private parking, it is also wheelchair accessible as opposed to their basement in downtown Portland.
“With a roster of two dozen players, and over 400 improv games in our playbook, no two shows are ever the same,” says CSz Maine General Manager Matt Russell. “And while it is comedy played as a sport, the only people we worrying about being winners is the audience.”
ComedySportz has delivered high quality laughs and matches around the world, with matches suitable for everyone, since it started in Milwaukee, WI in 1984, and is a fast-paced and fun competitive improv comedy match with two teams, a referee, and fans to decide the score. You get to shout out the suggestions, and we get to make you laugh. “And remember,” says player and referee Krista Simonis, “it’s not comedy about sports. It’s comedy played as a sport.”
Tickets are pay what you will and are available at the door the nights of performance. For reserved/guaranteed seating, contact the box office of Footlights Theater at (207) 747-5434 or by email at [email protected]
